Plans have been completed by the local chapter of the American Red Cross fur a whirlwind f und-raisiug campaign to be launched Friday, April 6, for the purpose of rai.sing money with which to meet the risible contingencies of war. Tb-v finance committee, composed r'wiiore than a hundred of Salt Lake's most prominent men and women, has been for many weeks industriously working over the details incident to the opening of the campaign. Chairman Chair-man Henry X. Byrne announced last niiht that all arrangements had been completed, with the exception of the meetings of the various sub-committees which have charge of the details of the soliciting work. The soliciting campaign will cover one day only. Good Kridav. The raising rais-ing of $10,000 is the object of the campaign. A contribution of one dollar dol-lar will be asked of every person approached ap-proached by the workers engaged in soliciting so-liciting funds. Membership cards have beeu piepared, and contributors will become members of the local chapter of the American Bed Cross. Memberships Unlimited. " Every wage earner in this community commu-nity is expected to buy at least one membership," Mr. Byrne said. "We ar placing no limit to the number of rncmb?rshins that may be subscri-bed for by any one person. Ever)' man and woman in this city should see the importance im-portance of this campaign. In the event of war there will be many local dependents de-pendents to be cared for by the .local chapter of the American Red Cross, and T wish to emphasize the fact that a! portion of the monev raised in this! campaign will be. used to take care of the needs of those who are dependent on the men who answer their country's call, if war is declared. Earnest, patriotic pa-triotic men and women in many cities over the country are lending their best efforts to similar campaigns, and we Salt Lakers cannot afford to let other citi'8 get ahead of us in promoting such a worthy national cause as this." Tags for Contributors. Tags will be used by the workers to identify contributors. These are intended in-tended to be worn by those who receive re-ceive them. Fifty per cent of the net j proceeds of the campaign will be turned over to the national headquarters of the American Red Cross. The balance will be used for the requirements of the local chapter. President Wilsou is nresident of the American Red Cross. The officers of the Salt Luke chapter are: Mayor Y.
