Show FOUR FOUND GUILTY IN U. S. MAIL FRAUD SPOKAN'l-:, Wash., Feb. 14. Gale Smith, S. T. Knndson. Clyde L. Uavies and O. C. Fowler, former officers of the Northwestern Northwest-ern General Trading company and its subsidiaries, sub-sidiaries, were found guilty of having used the mails to defraud in the United States distri- t court today. J. C. Lawrence, Law-rence, an employee of the Northwestern General Trading company, was found not guilty. Judge W. O. Van Fleet fixed the bond of Smith at ilO.oOrt and the three others at $j0t'0. and said he would sentence them next Friday. Trial of the men began January 23. The prosecution alleged that the defendants de-fendants used the mails to defraud in the sale of stock in the Northwestern General Trading company and three alleged subsidiary sub-sidiary trading companies. The district attorney told the jurnrs that the defendants defend-ants had sold $."4,736 worth of stock in the companies and had paid as commissions commis-sions $ ? 1 0 . 3 2 li , which the government alleged al-leged w;ts lost to the stockholders. |
