Bodfish, manager of the Alta Tunnel and Transportation company, was able to announce yesterday that the miners had come Into a heavily mineralized fissure of lead-silver ore, of which there had been no opportunity as yet to determine the values. While not. unexpected by Manager Bodfish Bod-fish and other officials of the company, the news that appears to mark the definite defi-nite establishment of Alta Tunnel's opportunity op-portunity to develop ore at depth la hailed with much sraiification. Preliminary indications of the change In the formation that presaped the nearness near-ness of the fissure were evident two davs a0, when the .flow of water in both face and sides of the tunnel became so heavy that U was necessary to suspend operations opera-tions for a day so far as driving ahead wa.-; concerned. Whether the fissure encountered is the Flora Hapen, Cooper or simply a "blind" fissure has not yet been definitely determined, de-termined, the essential feature of the development de-velopment being that the miners are out of the hard lime into ore-bearing ground: |
