Show MONUMENT TO HAVE IMPROVED LIGHTING Experiments to devise an indirect lighting light-ing system for the purpose of illuminating the Pioneer monument, at the head of Main street, are now being conducted under un-der the supervision of Charles Reading, superintendent of police and fire signals. sig-nals. The attempt is being made to construct con-struct some such a system of concealed lights as is in use to iliuminate the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor. Kxperl-ments Kxperl-ments were made last evening with four flood lighting projectors manufactured by the General Llectric company. Further experimenting is necessary before it can be determined whether these projectors will throw sufficient light. Charles Reading, In charge of the work, was appointed by Chief William H. By-water, By-water, who is lighting inspector of the city. When the proper method is discovered dis-covered a plan will be submitted to the citv commission for its approval before finally adopted and put into effect.
