Show TOURIST TRAVEL. Many Americans who have beeu accustomed accus-tomed for years past to spend their winters win-ters or summers in Europe are just now compelled to remain at home or visit parts of the world where peace prevails. Up until the time of the recent ruthless ; German order to destroy all ships within with-in a certain defined zone there were some Americans who persisted in crossing cross-ing the Atlantic, but now such tourist travel has been entirely cut off, none being foolhardy enough to risk their lives to hobnob with the nobility of Europe or gaze upon the misery of the poorer classes. The mountain and Paci- j fie coast states have been visited bv thousands of these people and manv of them have made trips to Panama, South America, the West India islands, Hawaii and the orient. From present indications they will be unable to visit Europe during the coming com-ing summer. Under such circumstances it is incumbent upon the people of Salt Lake and Utah to continue the good work of advertising the city and state with redoubled vigor in order that we may not be overlooked when the tide of spring and summer travel sets in. .Much j has already been accomplished, but we should not be weary in well doing. A great majority of the people of the eastern east-ern states are woefully ignorant concerning con-cerning the great west and it is high time they enlighten themselves by coming com-ing out and looking the country over. |
