Show Salt Lake's New Business Manager Takes Hold Today JOHN P. COOK L or.- ''i , --' iii I -' - - vVt ' " J iy t ? ; , 4 ?;fy ' UNLESS the schedule on which Jack Cook is traveling encounters some unexpected un-expected trouble, the" Saints' new business manager will take up his job today. February 35 was the date set for Jack's appearance in an official capacity, and since today is l-'ebruary 1j, the newly-appointed fiscal agent of the Snlt Lake club will take up his duties. John P. Cook conies to the office of business -manager of the Salt Lake club with a ripe experience in baseball. For many years he was one of the heaviest stockholders ot the Oakland club and held the office of secretarv and treasurer of that club. He is thoroughly familiar with the details of a business manager's job and no doubt will give the Saints good service. It is understood that eventually Cook will buy stock in the club to the extent of $10,000. The dividend earnings on this at the rate of 8 per cent will net him a neitt little sum in addition to his salary. He has announced his in-rention in-rention of selling his beautiful home at Oakland and removing his family to Salt Lake at the' envlieft convenient time. Recently he disposed of his stock in the Oakland club to J. Cal Kwing, the majority stockholder. During the seasons of 1915 and 19 Hi Cook made several trips to Salt Lake with the Oaks and took a great fancy to the city and its people. Following the close of the 1916 season Cook came to Zion with a view of looking over the field from the standpoint of an investor in baseball stock. He became fully convinced of his desire to become a resident of the best town on earth when" the leanie directors met here in December, and he begins upon that period of residential bliss today. |
