Show narrow escapes yesterday a little girl named ida jane ford aged seven years daughter of mr J ford was leading her baby brother aged about one year and a half across a bridge on eighth street when the latter fell into the ditch below the little girl with surprising presence f mind and bravery for one so young ran across the bridge and getting below the floating child jumped into tho creek and after carried down stream tor distance tho heroic sister managed to bring her infant brother to the banac in safety nars bowly escaping coming in contact with a bridge with the exception of a wetting the children escaped without injury the heroism of the brave little lister is something out of the common run and there are few parties many years her senior who would have displayed her press ence of mind under buch circum stances last evening we understand two little children of a mr jones who is engaged on the utah fe northern fell in a slough at the corner of sixth and eighth streets but fortunately they were rescued this is a bad place and should be fixed immediately a good substantial bridge over the slough would be a great advantage and would be appreciated precia ted by all who reside in that vicinity |
