The purpose of the meeting is to instruct these men on the details necessary for them to assume fire leadership leader-ship on state and private lands. The 1954 fire season proved the need for this training to be urgent. ur-gent. A training staff from the Utah Board of Forestry and Fire Control Con-trol plans to give instructions In state fire control policy, fire organization, fire behavior and tactics, and fire law enforcement. According to Sheriff Arthur Nelson, Nel-son, the average Utahn understands under-stands the mechanics of putting out a forest fire, but few people fully appreciate obligation of the county and state in doing the Job. Most small fires can be adequately ade-quately handled, but It is the sherif's and state's responsibility to organize crews and material on large fires in the county and this training is what , we need to help us do the Job, he said. Chief Game Warden Golden Peay and Deputy State Forester Bill Hart head the training team. Fish and game wardens, federal trappers, and all people interested interest-ed in fire protection are invited to attend. |
