Show I Colleae floriculture Club Makes Brief Tour mm mm Five students of the department depart-ment of Agriculture at the College Col-lege of Southern Utah and D. C. Schmutz, department head, left Wednesday morning for a five day tour of farming and livestock live-stock operations in southern California. Cal-ifornia. Making the tour will be Rex Sandberg, Richard Webster. Kenneth Ken-neth Goulding, Ed Hansen and Boyd Snow. .The group left Wednesday morning and made their first location inspection at the Sun-land Sun-land Farm at Las Vega3 Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon. The Sunland Farms provided a practical de-monstration de-monstration of hydrophonic farming. The group was to arrive ar-rive in Los Angeles Wednesday evening and tour the Union Stock Yards in that city this morning, Thursday. The group will be the guests of Swift Packing Company for the latter portion of the morning morn-ing and for lunch. Friday and Saturday the CSU delegation will meet with other agriculture groups on a tour being be-ing sponsored by the Western Livestock Journal. Invitation to participate in this tour was extended ex-tended by M. Nelson Crow, editor of the publication. Saturday CSU group will leave the tour and move on to the Imperial Im-perial Valley to inspect other farming operations including, cotton, early vegetable crops, alfalfa, and the pasture fattening of livestock. The return trip, to be made Sunday, will bring the group home via Blythe, Needles and Hoover Dam. |
