Show Fifteenth Annual Art Exhibit Offers Variety The 15th annual Cedar City Spring Art Exhibit, which opened Sunday, Is attracting unusual Interest, In-terest, according to Dr. Reed W. Farnsworth, exhibit chairman. Exhibit sponsors feel, Dr. Farnsworth indicated, that this is one of the finest exhibits of the 15 year history of the event, with greater representation of outstanding painters from all parts of the country than ever before. The quality and variety of the paintings exhibited is unsurpassed un-surpassed in a show of this size, the chairman pointed out, and Is undoubtedly the reason for the interest being shown by art lovers lov-ers from Cedar City and surrounding sur-rounding communities. The exhibit, hung In the College Col-lege of Southern Utah Memorial Fieldhouse, Is open to visitors each day from 2 to 10 p. m., and guided tours of the exhibit are being conducted under the direc tion of the Cedar City Fine Arts Guild. Guided Tours The exhibit will continue until Sunday, May 1, with two guest lectures, one to be given Sunday, April 24 and one on the final day of the exhibit, to highlight ! Vm oirnnt At a special meeting Sunday, April 24, beglnplng at 4 p. m., Mrs. Grayce C. Solomon, Salt Lake City, past president, Utah Creative Artists, will discuss "Modern Art Trends." Mrs. Solomon Solo-mon has been a consistent exhibitor exhi-bitor in the Cedar City show. Final Lecture The lecture on the final day of the exhibit will be given by Le- Conte Stewart, department of art, University of Utah, whose subject sub-ject will be "Art, a Vital Force In Living." Everyone is cordially Invited to attend these lecture meetings and to visit the exhibit as frequently as possible. A poll of art opinion of local natrons will be made this year through a vote . on choice of paintings. Each visitor Is asked to capt a ballot for his or her first and second choice of paintings paint-ings exhibited. Sponsors expect to gain valuable information as to local appreciation through this project. As in the past nearly all paintings paint-ings exhibited are offered for sale, and already a number of purchases have been made. These, of course, will remain in the exhibit until it closes on May 1 |
