Show Salt Lake City FBI Head ilnnounces Series Oi Training Schools for Utah's Law Enforcers Arthur Cornelius, Jr., special agent in charge of the Salt Lake City office of the FBI, announces an-nounces that law enforcement of-1 f icers throughout the state of I Utah will attend a series of law enforcement training schools to be held May 18, through June 4. The first of these schools will be held at Cedar City on May 18, vith officers from this area to gather for the sessions to be held at the city fire hall. According to Mr. Cornelius, the F B I as a co-sponsor will assist in providing courses of Instructions Instruc-tions to the officers In the one-day one-day training schools. Intensified classroom courses in juvenile delinquency de-linquency matters and traffic accident ac-cident investigations will be held. Afternoon sessions dealing with practical problems In traffic traf-fic accident investigations and advanced fireams training will also be presented. Instructors for the school will be F B I agents and a Utah Highway High-way Patrol officer who is a graduates grad-uates of the FBI National Academy Aca-demy at Washington, D. C. Mr. Cornelius stated that the training school is part of the long range police training program which has been under way in Utah for several years under the joint sponsorship of the FBI, ihe Utah Peace Officers Association, Associa-tion, Central Utah Peace Officers Offi-cers Association, and local law enforcement agencies. He explained ex-plained that the program is an outgrowth of the cost-free training train-ing services which the FBI has provided to law enforcement agencies throughout the United States for the past two decades. Since the inception of this program, pro-gram, the F B I has cooperated with the U P 0 A, C U P O A, and local law enforcement agencies agen-cies in conducting 238 police training schools throughout Utah. Practically every officer in the state of Utah has heceived some training in law enforcement as a result of these FBI sponsored schools. According to Mr. Cornelius, the FBI has served as the coordinator coordin-ator for the long range police training program In Utah since 1951. In addition to providing special agent instructors for the schools, the FBI assists the police po-lice departments and sheriff's offices in planning the curricula for their training schools. |
