Show Little League Teams Increased to Six for Summer Play Cleo Petty, president of the Cedar Ce-dar City Little League Association, Associa-tion, announced today that the league will be enlarged to six teams this year instead of the four, as participated last year. Columbia Iron Mines and Milne Truck Line will sponsor the two additional 'teams, Mr. Petty said. They will be added to the Kiwanis, Lions, Elks and Rotary teams which are already established. Tryouts for players will be stepped up the next two weeks in order that the new managers may select tneir preferred rosters and it is anticipated that the two additional teams will be given giv-en first choice in the selection of players at the bidding set for Monday, May 17. Beciuse of the addition of the two teams the league season will open on Monday, May 24, instead of the earlier announced date of June 1. As a result tryouts will be boosted next week with at least two scheduled for after school, Mr. Potty indicated. Practices Prac-tices will be held as scheduled this Saturday and additional sessions ses-sions will hp F.nnounced then. This addition to the league will mean that 30 more boys between be-tween the apes of nine and 12 will be put into uniform this summer. Tlite was necessitated when approximately 100 boys turned up for practice sessions with only 20 to be picked up by the four civic club teams. |
