Show Archeological Field Trip to Highlight CSU Summer School The 1954 Summer School session ses-sion at College of Southern Utah will include an unusual feature as the result of collaboration with the archeological department depart-ment oi the University of California Califor-nia at Los Angeles. Through the. cooperation of the two institutions institu-tions the local school will host a formal archeological field course being offered in this area by the California school. Dr. Clement W. Meighan, UCLA archeologist, who will conduct the lield course, and his assistant, assist-ant, Keith Dixon, spent several days in Cedar City and on the CSU campus last week, completing com-pleting arrangements for the .summer activities. The UCLA archeological party, which will include 15 to 20 students from colleges and universities uni-versities of the west, will mark the first scientific exploration of this aiea. Any artifacts resulting result-ing from the study here may be used as a nucleus for a new museum mu-seum at the Cedar City school, it is understood. In addition to conducting the field course, Dr. Moighan will become part of the regular summer school staff at CSU and will deliver regular illustrated lectures at the college on the results of the expedition.) |
