Officers delivered warrants war-rants for 1989 at a face value of , $586,425. The Davis County Jail handles 70,000 inmate transactions a year. That includes movement of inmates to such activities as court appearances ap-pearances and medical appoint-ments. appoint-ments. A well-organized SWAT team operates for the county. On Jan. 8, Metro Strike Force requested backup from the team to implement a successful drug raid on speed houses in Salt Lake City. The accompanying charts give detailed information on medical, meal and supply costs at the jail, and arrests by police departments in Davis County and the breakdown of charges. i The Davis County Sheriff's Department Patrol Division averages 681.56 dispatch calls per month, 347.44 non-dispatch calls, 70.89 arrests, 315.78 citations and 12.89 DUI's. The courts mandate that correctional facilities provide a specific standard of care for inmates. The jail must provide clothing, beds and laundry services to inmates as well as other services, like at least one hot meal a day. If an inmate needs a tooth pulled, the county is responsible for cost and care. Prescriptions alone for 1990 amounted to $10,219.98.
