Show TOW COST OF ijupoi Olympia, Wash., Firm Claims World Record for Cheap Operating. What is believed to be an unbeatable record for truck upkeep costs has been nun? up by a Republic truck in the service ser-vice of Wagner & Sons of Olympia, Wash. The truck, a one-ton model, has been in continuous service for almost five vears and in that time has had only a 70-cent repair bill charged against it. despite the fact that it has been used in especially heavy work. Wagner & Son, In a letter, to the local Republic representative, claim the longdistance, long-distance, low-cost championship for this work. "We challenge any other truck of the same tonnage to show a lower repair re-pair expense than ours for the four and u lialf years. The amount of 70 cents was for two pieces of hose purchased from the Olympia Auto Supply house. "I might add that this truck was not in the hands of any one driver, nor received re-ceived any particular care. We taught three men to drive this machine. The first two years we had the truck it was used as a dray, going out on all kinds of trips. Since then it has been used for our own work only. "The truck has lots of power in reserve, makes all the hills with ease, and is a pleasure to drive." Mr. Eaton, the Seattle representative of Republic trucks, reports that, while this is the best record he has heard of. . there are quite a few other Republics to be rated as near-champions in the Seattle district. "In fact," said Mr. Eaton, "as far as our service station goes, we have to go out and dig up business. If we depended on our service work on Republic trucks we would have to close up shop." |
