SELECT LANDS FOR EX-SERVICE VETERANS SACRAM UNTO, Cal., Nov, 1. The California land settlement board announced an-nounced today it had selected a tract of eight thousand acres in Merced county to be devoted exclusively to ex-service ex-service men. The land will furnish homes and ranches for 300 families. The board has one thousand applications applica-tions on hand for allotments, it was announced. The land wiil be developed into orchard or-chard and garden tracts. Other settlements settle-ments are to be purchased by tho uoard out f the $1,000,000 appro"riated h the legislature.
