At no ' stage of the game was the University of Utah goal ever threatened, and it was but very seldom that the. ball was ever worked into Utah territory. Long spectacular end runs by tho locals ! gave them most of their touchdowns. The ' visitors were extremely poor on tackling, and it was only on very rare occasions I that they were able to obtain the ball on downs. Kicking Sensational. Mitt Romney's kicking was nothing less than sensational. Gardner took the ball through right guard for a gain of fifteen yards, but the ball was later lost on downs. Oberlee was again forced to punt when the Utah line he'd, and the locals had the ball on their five-yard line. Romney punted, giving Montana the ball on the fifty-yard line. Again the Utah line held and. after receiving the punt, Romney went fifteen yards before being tackled. Romney was forced to punt again when Utah was penalized five yards for offside. After three line plunges by the backs had failed. King took tho ball through center on a fake kick formation, forma-tion, giving Montana a first down. The Utah lino held, and the Montanans lost the ball on downs. Romnev then took tho ball around right end for a touchdown, touch-down, his run being about seventy yards. Mitt kicked goal. Utah received the ball on the thirty-yard thirty-yard line, and by a series of line bucks and short end runs carried the ball to within five yards of the visitors' line, where Thorum took it over for another touchdown, after which Romney kicked goal. The half ended just after Thorum had received the kickoff, with the score standing 45 to 0. Second Half Opens. The Crimsons started the second half with a rush, carrying the ball lo the Montana twenty-yard line before losing It on downs. Montana punted, and Utah received the ball on the fifty-yard line. Utah made first down with easo, and then Romney took the ball around right end for twenty-five yards. With fifteen yards to a touchdown, Ure took the ball around right end for eight yards, Howells How-ells went through right guard for five more, and Romney then went over, kicking kick-ing goal afterward. Utah received the ball in the middle of the field. Howells went around right end for ten yards, and Ure took the ball around left end for forty yards and a touchdown. Mitt's goal kick was again successful. Utah received on the thirty-yard line. Romney took the ball around right end to the Montana goai line, but the touch- t down was not allowed, Umpire Peterson claiming that Mitt had trod upon the side line in his dash. Prouso then caught a forward pass and dashed to the goal line, but once more the touchdown was not allowed, as Utah was ruled as being offside off-side on the play. When the ball was really put into play, Romney went around left end for a gain of thirty yards. Montana recovered a Utah fumble, but, after the customary line bucks failed to reap the required harvest, Obrle punted, Utah getting the hall on Montana's forty-flve-yarn line.
