Show ILLINI OVERTURNS MAROON TITLE HOPE URBANA. III., Nov. 1. Displaving a startling reversal of form and using tvpi-cal tvpi-cal Zuppke stratagem, - Illinois capsized Chicago's championship hopes on Illinois field this afternoon, winning, 10 to 0, before be-fore 18,000 persons, the largest crowd that ever attended an athletic contest here., Illinois outplayed the Maroons from beginning be-ginning to end, there being no time when they became really dangerous. The only time when they were withing even striking strik-ing distance Of a touchdown was In the third period, when tin; ball was carried to the Illinois eighteen-yard -line, but here the Illinois braced and took the" ball on downs. Ralph Fletcher, who replaced .Sernaman in the Illinois lineup when "the Springfield star was injured, proved a' nemesis for the Stagg men. He made all of the Illinois Illi-nois period, working a place . kick in the second period and going over for a toucn-down toucn-down in the third. Chicago's fast back field proved a disappointment dis-appointment to the 1200 Maroon rooters who accompanied the team, for there was no time when they were able to gain consistently. Graham, Maroon quarter, was especially unfortunate, as there was no time when he was able to get loose from the agile Illlni. The whistle announcing the end of the game probably saved the Maroons another touchdown, for Illinois had carried the ball to their three-yard line, where the game ended.
