Fighting every moment mo-ment with the grit that is only seen in Ogden-liast high battles, the Ogden high held the speedy and undefeated Leopard eleven of Salt Lake to a T-to-0 count hero this afternoon. The contest was one of the most bitterly contested ever witnessed on a local gridiron. ' The visitors also fought hard every moment. The stonewall defense of the Ogden team was remarkable, and too much praise cannot be given them. Time after time the Tigers wete in the .shadow of . their own goalposts, but each time the line held, Richards then booting out of The Leopards displayed skill with the . j forward pass, using the aerial game 'for S frequent gains. The Ogden line was hard 1 to pierce, but numerous end runs wero j made. On the other hand, the Tigers . worked their shift plays smoothly and j made considerable ground by this method. Jewkes, playing fullback in place of M Captain Whitney, who was Injured in the Aggie Frosh battle, scored the- only n touchdown, near tne conclusion oi tne first quarter, on a thirty-yard end run around left end. Jewkes gained ground J constantly and made a forty-yard run in the third quarter. Livingston starred in open-field running. Murray Henderson directed the team well. For Ogden, Richards played a heady j game. His well-placed and long punts f often turned the Leopards back, and he showed ability at bucking the line. Ogden kicked off, Livingston returning the ball to the middle of the field.. Two plavs took the ball to the Ogden twenty-yard twenty-yard line. Ogden intercepted a forward pass, but, after making ten yards, lost the ball on a fumble. The Ogden line - 1 held and an exchange of punts took place, the Leopards gaining possession of the ball in the middle of the field. An assortment assort-ment of line bucks, forward passes and end runs took the pigskin to the two-yard two-yard line of the locals, where Ogden held the visitors for downs. Richards punted, the Leopards placing the ball on the thirty-yard line. On the first play thereafter there-after Jewkes made his end run for the lone touchdown. Dyer followed- with a neat goal. Shortly after the subsequent, kickoff the first quarter ended. .. . The play for the next two quarters was even, the ball remaining in the middle of " , the field most of the time. Through several sev-eral well-directed forward passeB the Leopards again got into scoring territory in the last quarter, but the Tiger line held.. Ogden then started a march down the field and a Tiger score seemed a cer-.- -tainty, but a fumblo spoiled their chances. -the Leopards retaining the ball during the remainder of the game. More than 500 East high students accompanied ac-companied the Leopards to Ogden. . A band was present, and the Salt Lakers singingand rooting was one of the features. fea-tures. The pep was especially evident, in the last quarter when the Ogdenitcs threatened.
