GERMANY TRYING TO COMBAT SMUGGLING By the Associated Press. COBLKNZ, Nov. 1 German newspa-, pers announced recently that 'the Berlin government had established a so-called Rhine control designed to combat the wild smuggling in foodstuffs which has been carried on for months all alone the occupied territory border from the North sea to Lake Geneva. The state police department, which is connected with the state commissioner for food, has opened an office in Frankfort -on -Main, the chief entry point for foreign goods, and will seize all material coming in without proper authority. All food seized in this manner will be turned over to certain comi-.ittees for proper distribution.
