Show Wisconsin Unable to Withstand With-stand Smashing Attack of Minnesota Eleven. MADISON, Wis., Nov. 1, Wisconsin's football eleven was eliminated this afternoon after-noon from the conference championship race by Minnesota, 10 to 7. The Badgers were unable to withstand the smashing offense of the Minnesota team, but were able to score a touchdown in the final period pe-riod on a long, spectacular forward pass. The first period was a punting duel between be-tween Lampi, Minnesota's captain, and Sundt of Wisconsin. The ball changed hands repeatedly. With a few minutes to play, Minnesota .took the ball close to her goal line and by a series of line drives carried it to her forty-three-yard line, where the period ended. Late in the second period, after Lampi missed a field goal via the drop-kick route, Minnesota recovered the ball after ' a Wisconsin punt, smashed through the Wisconsin defense and Haertle acrried the ball over for a touchdown. Ruben missed the try for goal. Minnesota completely outplayed Wisconsin Wis-consin In the second period, taking sharp advantage of Captain Sundt's short punts. Afeterle went over for a touchdown. Wisconsin Wis-consin obtained the ball on an exchange of punts and made a terrific effort to pierce tho Minnesota defense. The second sec-ond period ended with the ball close to the middle of the field. Minnesota scored noon after the start of the third period on a steady march down the field from three yards out, where the Gophers got the ball on Sundt's fuvi-ble. fuvi-ble. Minnesota lost ten yards on a fumble on the first play In the fourth period. Wisconsin blocked an attempted kick, but Minnesota recovered. Then in a dozen plays, each one netting a small gain, Minnesota marched twenty-five yards for another touchdown. Lampi kicked goal. Minnesota, 19; Wisconsin, 0.
