Show TOM MILTON TAKES TWO SPEEDWAY RACES PROVIDENCE, R. I., Sept. 15. Thomas Milton was the etar of the automobile auto-mobile races at the Narragansett Park speedway todav. Ho won the 100-niUe riu-e in 1:24:4Z, the 25-mile in 19.46, and was third in the five-mile race. In the 100-mile Vail was a scant twenty twen-ty yards behind Milton. Hearn was third. Vail and Chevrolet, followed Milton across at the finish of the 25-mile race, and Muiford, Chevrolet and Milton was the order of tlie finish in the five-mile. In the 100-mile event Muiford and Vail took the lead up to the twenty-sixth mile, when Muiford 's axle broke. Vail kept the lead up to the last turn at the rint.sh of the 100 miles. Milton had been creeping up, but at the ninety-eighth mile Vail led by one mile. Cutting down this lead, the two cars ran abreast down the linish nnd Milton's burst of speed, made him a winner bv a scant margin. Barney Oldtleld, who was one of the contestants. drove a slow race and dropped out in the ninety-eighth mile. |
