Count Wranprel, the Swedish minister to Great Britain, and Countess Wrangel left London to dav for tho continent on a few weeks of a hue nre. Count V ran gel yesreriiay had a long conr'eren.-e with Lord Hubert Hub-ert Cecil, trie Jintish undersecretary for foreign af fai rs, presumabi v on the subject of the Swedish-Argentine di-f di-f I o.-; u res. W. W. K. Host roern. counsel-tor counsel-tor of the Swedish legation here, will take charge during Count W range I 's absence. Cou nt Wrangel 's departure from London, while not in the nature of dismissal, dis-missal, is generally taken as an indi-eution indi-eution that the liritish government id dis-tarisfied with the explanations thus far made and the steps thus far taken by Sweden in replv to representations rega rdi ng the Luxburg affair. A statement made to the Associated I'ress today through a reliable source says: "The adilitional revelations made in the t'nited States yesterday afford further proof that the practices brought to light are something more than individual indi-vidual action, ami are an organized practice, affecting very largely Swedish diplomacy in all neutral countries. ''The removal of a single subsidiary official from the Swedish foreign office of-fice can not clear up the situation or remove blame from tho Swedish diplomatic diplo-matic service at large. The steps so far taken by Sweden both in respect of their official explanation and in the removal of Secretary Eweroelf of the Swedish foreign office show a failure fail-ure to appreciate the seriousness of the situation. I'p to the present Sweden has only made a rather poor attempt to excuse the past and has given no promise prom-ise for the future." At tho Swedish legation it was said today that Count Wrangel 'a departure had "nothing to do with the Washington revelations. Tho minister, with his wife, who is a French woman, it was added, usually spend a few weeks in France every year. They probably will be away until tho end of October. |
