Show I Morris3ey amd White Will Meet in Main Beut Tomorrow LEE MOEKISSEY. X f ' X i I Local Boxing Fans Likely to See Great Exhibition of Cleverness. LEE MORBISSET, lightweight champion of Idaho, who meets Eddie White of San Francisco in the main event of Hardy K. Downing 's weekly boxing show iu the Grand theater; tomorrow night, arrived here last evening and says he is ready for the big battle. Morrissey appears to be in the best of condition and no doubt is, for he always takes the best of care of himself and just stepped over the ten-round route in Boise, Idaho, a little more than a week ago with Dick Casev of Seattle. White has demonstrated to the local fans that he is as good as. is not better than, anv of the local lightweights, and s. battle' between these two should be' the richest, dish Manager Downing has vet dished up to its fans. Outside' of holding the lightweight championship of Idaho, Morrissey has fought a twenty-round draw with Ad Wolgast. former lightweight champion of the world, and has also stepped over the twelve-round route with Joe Rivers, one of the best top-notch lightweights in the country. He has also won decisions de-cisions over Young Gilbert and Al Young, both of whom fought a draw wdtli White. Gilbert and Young also hold decisions over Morrissey, so everything would indicate that the bovs are 'about as evenly matched as it is possible to get them. Cleverness vs. Cleverness. In White's last two bouts here it has been a case of the fast and clever two-handed two-handed boxer against the rough-and-ready Gilbert and Young, but m this case' it will be two clever boys pitted against eacii oruer. Morrissey is contemplating con-templating a trip to the coast to meet some of the best boys there and tomorrow's to-morrow's match will no doubt give him a good line on his .chances there, as White lias proved himself to be one of the very best boys there. Therefore, if Morrissey can take bini into camp, there is no reason why he will" not. make good in California. 'On the other hand, if White succeeds in bringing home the long end of the, money, it can readily be seen that the Idaho boy will have his troubles there, so the result of this bout should go a long way towards deciding de-ciding Morrissey 's future plans. Burke and Palzer. The semi-windup between Fifrhting Jack Burke of the Twentieth infantry and voung Al Palzer, styled the "Kansas "Kan-sas Cyclone," who comes here well recommended, rec-ommended, is attracting almost as much interest as the main event, and especially especial-ly at the "-post, as Burke is the pride of the boys in khaki and from the manner in which the soldier boys have been cailing for tickets the post will be well represented at the Grand. If-both of these men live up to their reputations and their press notices of previous encounters en-counters the fans should see a good light-heavyweight battle. Kid Dutch and Willie Johnson, the latter of Ogden, a couple of boys with real havmakers, should also furnish plenty of real excitement, as either one 13 lik'elv to win the minute he connects. Bob 'Moore will trv out a newcomer to local fans in Jiintnie Christeusen of Helper, who comes here recommended as a tough two-handed battler. Young Titus, who claims to bold the featherweight championship of the navy and calls Xw York his home, will also be a new one to local fans and they will have a good chance to look him over when he meets Kid Blackie. "The amateur curtain-raiser will open the show. . Manager Downing says that indications indica-tions point to another overflow house and he is putting seats in every avatl-able avatl-able spot. |
