That Salt Lake's circle of automobile distributors and dealers numbors some mighty good fellows, whose efforts to sell their own cars never prevent a recognition rec-ognition that i'ellov,- dealers have mighty desirable cars also, has long been a recognized fact. "Whenever Fred Alkiro of Alkire & Smith, the oldest Fori distributors and dealers in the state, walks up town from his big J-'ord establishment at the corner of AVest Temple and Fourth South streets, he passes Sam Sharnian 's Cadillac show rooms; and every time Mr. Alkire has passed the Cadillac display dis-play lately he hag stopped and admired a beautiful Cadillac brougham on Mr. Sharman 's sales floor. The next time Mr. Alkire passed he stepped in. "Sam, limber iio this Cadillac brougham and take me for a little ride, will voufM ho asked Mr. Sharman. "Surest thing you know," was the reply. And a moment later the two Salt Lake automobile distributors were rolling roll-ing out Fourth South street for a spin in the Cadillac. "The funny part of it is that Sam thought I was working him for a little ride, I guess7 declares Mr. Alkire. "1 didn't even mention buying the car until we got pretty nearly back to the Sharman company Js establishment and then I asked Sam the price of the brougham. He told me $3750. I asked him as one brother dealer to another if he couldn't shave that with a professional profes-sional discount, but there was nothing doing Sam said the Cadillac had to go at list price. Whereupon I got my check book out, wrote him his check and the car was mine." "That's exactly the way it happened and I was very much surprised and complimented by Fred's choice of the Cadillac brougham," declared Mr. Sharman Shar-man yesterday. Mr. Alkire has had his new car for several days now and is- warm in its praises. He declares it is exactly what lie wanted, in a big car and that the performance of the Cadillac is fully justifying jus-tifying lys high expectations. |
