Show GALEI 1 WINZE . AT TinmCSTflrUDflRD Find Is Made Seventy Feet Below the 1000-foot Level. John Westordahl, who was town tho other day from tho Tin tic Standard property in k& eastern end of tho district, dis-trict, made a vpry enoouraging report on the oro showing in tho wmzo wnich is being sunk from tho 1000 level, says tho Eureka Reporter. The winze is now down a distanco of about soventy feet below the 1000 and a week or ten days should bo sufficient to take it to tho 1100 whero drifting will bo taken up for tho further development of the oro body which was first oponed on the 1000 somo months ago. ! This winzo has been following the oro and a part of tho mino's first shipment, ship-ment, which brought such a splendid check, was taken out as tho sinking progressed. A week or two ago tho oro seemed to be dipping away from the winzo. but aocording to Mr. Westordahl Westor-dahl it is now coming back and on Thursday thero was a bunch of Bolid galena oro in tho bottom of tho winze; the high-grado material beinc about a foot in width. Tho vein is undoubtedly of liberal size and those who have vis-itod vis-itod tho property during tho past few days feel confident that tho winze is directly abovo a largo deposit of high-grado high-grado ore. At any rate tho showing Has never been quito so favorablo ana tho officials of tho company aro bo ou-thused ou-thused with the work that thoy have decided to put on another shift in order that tho development work may be handled in a more rapid manner. In addition to tho work in tho winze tho management has again commenced operations in tho main east drift. Superintendent Westerdahl states that ho has had somo little troublo in getting coal to the mine during the past fow weeks, tho wagon roads being be-ing in rather bad condition. Tho cost of hauling coal between the railroad and tho mino is about $2.50 per ton. Taking Copper From Dragon. Frank Birch, the assistant manager of the Knight mines, Btates that work has again boon taken up in the northern north-ern end of the Dragon Consolidated ground (roachod from the Black Jaok workings), and that the minors aro taking tak-ing out n very nico grado of copper oro. It will bo remembered that a number of shipments wore made from this portion por-tion of tho Dragon during tho summer of last j'oar, 'when work was discontinued discon-tinued at tho Black Jack it resulted in tho suspension of operations in this particular part of the Dragon. Somo very nice oro is also being mined from the south end of the Black Jack ground. Ono shipment was forwarded for-warded to tho smelter a week or two ago and another will soon bo ready for the market. Lead-silver in Old Humbug. Joseph Ferguson and djawrenco Olson Ol-son havo a very nice showing of lead-silver lead-silver ore in their lease in the old Humbug workings of the Uncle Sam mine, and just as soon aB the wagon road is in Gu'ch condition that tho teams can mako trips to the mine, the ore will be sent. Tho bunch of ore upon which thoy are now working carries car-ries 25 per cent lead and about 50 ounces in silvor. About flvo blocks, of ground in the TJncle Sam mino are now being worked under tho leasing system and while there is no great amount of ore in Bight the leasers aro getting along fairly well. During tho past year tho royalty on ore shipped by leasers has wiped out a small overdraft ajid givou the company a few .thousand dollars to the good. |
