Show I GREAT AUTO SHOW GOMESJO CLOSE Exhibition Most Successful Ever Held in the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain West. ATTENDANCE IS LARGE" Estimated That Fully 30,000 Persons Were Present During the Week. A noise which sounded as if about 10.000 duoks had been suddenly turned loose in the middle of Main street, signalized tho closing of the third annual an-nual intermountain automobile show last night. It also signalized the completion com-pletion of tho biggest and best show ever hold in tho intermountain region. Dealers and visitore alike are unanimous unani-mous in declaring that the show was an unqualified success. After the doors wero closed, last night, an estimate was made of tho total to-tal attendance during tho time the show was open, from Tuesday aftonoon until last night. A conservative estimate of : several who were in charge of fctoe exhibition ex-hibition was that approximately 30,000 persons had passed through tho entrance en-trance during the week. This exceeds , all previous attendance figures. Last J night, the closing night, saw the largest crowd that attended on any single night .. during the week. , I Big Crowd Last Night. Last night was known as "popular night," and every effort was made to "please the crowds," to quote Manager W. D. Eishol. Fred C. Graham, who was in charge of the musical programmes pro-grammes at the show, had arranged for a programme of popular music and the regular orchestra was assisted by a mixed quartette and several soloists. The enthusiasm of tho evening reached its high tide whon, shortly after 10:30 o'clock, the exhibitors jumped into their cars and turned on every horn m tho room. This was augmented by the horns on display on the accessory balcony. bal-cony. The noiso was deafening. The success of the show has been duo largely to the untirinjr work of Manager Man-ager w. D. Rishel, automobilo oditor of Tho Tribune, and tho show executive committee, consisting of Mr. Risbel and the following prominent dealors: Sam Sharman of tho Sharman Automobile companv; Frank Botterill of the Tom "Bottcrill Automobilo company; A. L. Taylor of the Salt Lako Automobile company, and M. L. 8mith of tho Al- CHARLES A. QUIGLBY, of the StudeBaker Bros, company, com-pany, who was one of the 'Hive wires" at the automobile auto-mobile show during the past week. I kire-Smith Automobile company. The oxocutive committee received enthusias tic support from tho exhibitors, who were especially careful in observing all of rho rules of the show. When talking over tho results of tho 'big show last night the dealers wore enthusiastic in their praise of Manager Rishel and tho members of tho executive execu-tive committee. They declared that there never was a better managed show. Visiting factory representatives wore nlso enthusiastic in praising tho complotcnoso and beauty of the exhibition exhibi-tion and the air of refinement which characterized the Bhowroom at all timos. That the automobile Bhow brought thousands of dollars' worth of business to the automobilo intorcsts of Salt Lake was conceded by all. Many orders for machines wero taken right on the floor. Some of the dealers tolegraphed to their factories and asked for additional addi-tional cars on tho strength of tho business busi-ness done at tho show. Accessory dealers deal-ers took in scores of ordors given them by motorists who visited the show. Will Stimulate Business. Visitors included motorists and dealers deal-ers from all over tho intermountain district, from tho Canadian line to the Mexican border. "Thero wero 50 per cent more dealers in attendance at the show this year than last," said one exhibitor ex-hibitor yesterday. "That means business, busi-ness, because these dealers make contracts con-tracts whilo they are hero that mean thousands of dollars' worth of business to tho firms in Salt Lako, and that means additional prosperity to the whole city." Today the machines in the showroom at tho David Keith building will be removed re-moved to their respective agencies. Tho effect of tho automobile show in stimulating tho spring business will undoubtedly be folt for some weeks. Thero wore many prospective buyers of motor cars, motorcycles and accessories who did not complete arrangements at tho show for their purchases, but who will do business with the dealers during the next month. All of the dealers predict pre-dict un unprecedented business for motor mo-tor vehicles and accessories during the coming season. |
