ITER OF PARLEY'S IS COIIWEO City Health Department Reveals Re-veals Impurities Through Tests Just Completed. Water flowing into tho city mains from Parley's canyon is veritably swarming with all manner of bacteria, according t0 the tests completed yesterday yes-terday by Dr. Ilardio K. Lynch, city bacteriologist. As high as 500 bacteria per cubic centimeter were discovered and the variety was such as to include many of the dangerous disease pro ducing kind, indicating decided contamination con-tamination of the water. Dr. Lynch will make his report to Dr. Samuel G. Paul, city health commissioner, com-missioner, Monday, and it is probable that the commissioner will bring to the I attention of tho city commission the 1 conditions showu to exist in the canyon. can-yon. The tests of Parley's canyon water were made as a part of the general examination of all the city's sources of water supply. Water was taken from various points along the stream and tostcd separately. The first sample taken from a point near Roach's ranch showed 400 bacteria to the cubic centimeter. cen-timeter. The second, from Mountain j Dell Forks, showed 225; the third from Youncberg's spring, showed 250; the fourth from Alexander's creek, showed 500; tho fifth, from just below the cement ce-ment works, showed 200, and the sixth, taken at the intake tank of the city water system, showed 5p0. Alexander's creek is where tho sheep, cross the canyon, can-yon, and the test is positive proof of the contamination that comes from the presence of the sheep along tho oreek. Tosts of City creek water, made in a similar way several weeks ago, showed an average of not more than 10 bacteria to the cubic centimeter. Most the samples were found to contain con-tain from four to ten bacteria, and tho highest count was made from the old high line tank, which contained 60. "Many of tho bacteria in tho Parley's Par-ley's canyon water are disease producers pro-ducers and are of a kind that indicate considerable contamination." said Dr. Lynch. "Tho few "bacteria found in tho City creek water were of a harmless harm-less sort, whilo many of those in tho Parley's canyon water are disease producers."
