John Bernstrom, a Swede, living in the rear of 473 lCust Eighth South street, was found guilty in police court yesterday morning of turning iu a fnlsc alarm on the afternoon of June. 1J. He secured the number of the telephone .from which, the call had come and tho number of the residence. The police patrol, instead of tho live apparatus, answered the call. Sentence was suspended yesterday bv Judge N. H. Tanner after Charles Reeding Reed-ing superintendent of tire alarms, asked the judge that, no sentence be imposed that, would interfere with tho defendant's efforts to earn a living for his family. Bernstrom was allowed to go free, after having spent throe days in jnil as a penalty for his practical joke. |
