Show Acord Will Represent Utah in World's Championship Contests , "Art" Acord, world's champion steer bulldogger and Pad tic coast champion broncho rider. With contestants arriving almost daily from all parts of tho intermoun-tain intermoun-tain country, indications are that "The Stampede ' to be held at the state fair grounds for an entire week beginning be-ginning July 4 will be one of the biggest big-gest events of the kind ever held in tho world. Already five men who arc the acknowledged champions of the world have arrived and within the next ten days several hundred contestants contest-ants are oxpectod. "The Stampede" is a series of contests in the events common to frontier life for world's championships, and as this is tho first time the contests have ever been hold in an official manner, the top notch men in all lines are coming. One of tho contestants who will represent rep-resent Utah is "Art'' Acord, who hails from Castle Dale in Emery county. Acord is the recognized champion steer bulldogger' ' of tho world and is also Pacific coast champion bronco rider. In tho past few years he has won more championships than any other man in the business. Recently he has been featured as a cowboy in moving pictures pic-tures by a largo film company in Los Angeles. Ho has been hero visiting relatives and will remain in. the city until after "Tho Stanipode." At the fair grounds the activity ro-sembles ro-sembles the days preceding the opening of the annual exhibit. Preparations aro being made to care for five hundred hun-dred horses and nearly as many steers, and a largo Indian village is also bo-ing bo-ing planned. Indians will come from the Bannock reservation at: Fort Hall, Idaho. "The Stampede' will begin July 4. with a spectacular street parade pa-rade in tho morning and performances afternoon and evening. Tho contests will continue for six days. |
