Former resident dies in Bountiful Former Vernal resident, Viola M. Slaugh Babcock, 70, died Feb. 6, 1980 in a Bountiful, Ut. hospital. Born April 15, 1909 in Vernal to Warren E. and Annie Smuin. Following her parents' death she was raised by an aunt, Florence Willis. She married Elmer D. Babcock, Dec. 5, 1930 in Roosevelt. He died May, 1952. She was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include sons, Rex D. Babcock, Salt Lake City; daughter Mrs. Gary (Joyce) Winterbottom, West Jordan; grandchildren, Tahona, Cliff, Rick, Karen, Steve, Conny, Barry, Christine and Kathleen; ten greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Chris (Ada) Jorgenson, Wellington, Carbon County; and Martha Turano, Arizona. Funeral services were Monday Feb. 11, in the Deseret Mortuary. Interment was in the Roosevelt City Cemetery, Monday.
