Show National Guard recruiting new members this month Members of the Vernal National Guard, Company "A", of the 1457th Btln. met this past weekend for their monthly drill. Saturday morning, the Btln. Chaplain, Ted Demille spoke to the group. The theme of his talk was "All Behavior is Purposeful". He encouraged en-couraged the men to redirect their lives: to become involved, be of service to wives, children, community and nation. He cautioned the guardsmen against becoming bored with life or getting into one of life's ruts. Chaplain DeMille brought a visitor, Mr. Allen Williams, who also talked with members of the group. Mr. Williams is a media coordinator from Kanab High School who works with many young people around the state. He mentioned the youth of today are floundering with questions of life. They lack respect for themselves, schools, community and country. They need the guidance and direction from all concerned con-cerned parents and citizens. The remainder of the drill was spent in the classroom. The unit is preparing for S.Q.T., which will be given during the annual summer camp. The following classes were conducted: portable field radio PRC -77 by Sgt. Fontaine, M-60 machine gun by Sgt. Hayes, expedient vehicle classification by Sgt. Tucker, M4T6 float bridge by Sgt. Walton, mine location and proving by Sgt. Muir, camouflaging by Sgt. Layton, identifying limited slopes and curves by Sgt. Hullinger and erection of a model Baily bridge by Sgt. Merrell. The unit is recruiting new members this month. If there are any young men or prior servicemen who are interested in any information about the guard, please contact Sgt.
