Show Sfreamflow forecasts increased Eastern Utah Streamflow forecasts for April through July have increased sharply, as much as 110 from last month, according to NOAA, National Weather Service River Forecast Center in Salt Lake City . January precipitation amounts were overwhelming, ranging from 138 at Thompson to 146 at Capitol Reef National Park. Precipitation reports in the Uinta Mountains were generally in the 400-500 range. The exception being in the Thompson area which was below normal. Snow pack in eastern Utah was above normal ranging from 110-106 . Reservoirs showed little change from January 1979, with Strawberry Reservoir at 105 and Scofield at 124 of the usable contents (1963-1977 average). Flaming Gorge Reservoir at the end of January contained 2.3 million acre-feet, 275,000 acre-feet acre-feet less than a year ago. Moon Lake Reservoir storage on January 31, was 7,540 acre-feet and is expected to fill by late June or early July. |
