Show Xi Alpha Xi holds candle lite Pledge Ritual An impressive candle-lite pledge ritual was held February 4, in the home of Xi Alpha Xi member Carolyn Johnson. The ten members present participated in this formal occasion,, honoring and affiliating pledges Karen Kelin, Opal Orr, Joyce Melchor and LaRue Harmon as new members of Xi Alpha Xi Chapter. Preceding the ritual, a brief business session was conducted. Carolyn Pollard presided with members mem-bers answering roll call and reviewing committee reports. Doris Kindt expressed concern and grief, due to the death of our sorority sister, Barbara SweedenV ' Members unanimously' agred ''tb'Start a Memorial Fund in her memory with a chapter donation of $100. Jeanie. Orr, service chairman, has opened this memorial account at Zions Bank. Anyone or organization wishing to donate, may do so at the bank. Chapter members expressed their thanks to the Vernal community for the full support of the sorority annual quilt project. Gerri Voyles, ways and means chairman, reported due to the increased in-creased interest this year, the projec t was very successful and the proceeds will continue to be used for service in the community. The quilt was awarded to John Kindt, Kindt Enterprises, Feb. 9 at the annual Sweetheart Ball. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. and a social hour followed. Members got acquainted with the new members and sampled favorite salad recipes. The next regular meeting will 1)2 February 18. |
