Commercial airline activity during January Commercial airline traffic at the Vernal Municipal Airport during January was active in spite of winter weather conditions. Frontier Airlines reported 563 passengers departing from Vernal station and 510 arriving on its flights. Freight for Frontier during January totaled 46,931 pounds arriving and 13,588 going out. For the same period in 1979 Frontier counted 627 passengers departing and 548 arriving. Freight in January 1979 totaled 30,365 pounds arriving and 14,109 going out. TransWestern Airlines experienced winter weather problems with its Vernal flights during January, according ac-cording to officials. Thirty-one flights arrived at the Vernal airport with 82 passengers and 38 flights left the air port with 64 passengers during the month. Frontier's route system extends from Denver to 91 airports in 26 states, Canada and Mexico. Revenue passenger miles for the whole system was up in January by 6.9 percent over the same month in 1979. This represents the 55th consecutive month of record year-to-year traffic advances for Frontier. TransWestern is scheduled for two flights every weekday with one on Saturday. Frontier has four daily flights scheduled to Vernal. TransWestern s route system extends from Salt Lake City to 7 airports in Utah and Colorado. TransWestern began regular passenger service to the Vernal airport on October 14, 1979. |
