Show Bombers and Short Stacks garner tournament crowns The Bombers captured first place in the B League's Tournament in the Women's Community Volleyball Program, Monday, and the Short Stacks nabbed first place in the A League. Vernal's Bombers toppled the Gold Diggers in two games. The Gold Diggers placed second. The high scorer for the Bombers were Lael Moosman, first game, 6; Tammy Johnson, Lael Mooseman, second game, 4. The top scorer for the Gold Diggers was Dris Gage with 3 points in the first game. The Short Stacks nabbed the A League title when they thumped the Hot Shots in two games. Hign scorer for the Short Stacks was Lonnie Hadlock, 9, first game and second game, 4. Top scorers for the Hot Shots were Cheryl Phillips, first game, 4 and Shela Swain, second game, 2. The Hot Shots placed second. In other B League games the Bombers Bom-bers thumped the Transients and the Gold Diggers down the Transients. The Transients placed third, and the Nikes nabbed fourth place. High scorers for the Bombers were Lael Moosman, first game, 5 and LouAnn Johnson, second game, 10. Top scorers for the Transients Tran-sients were Jean Nitschke, first game, 2 and Judy Brown, second game, 3. Top point gainer for the Gold Diggers was Linette Rollins, first game, 5 and second game, 4. The Transients' top scorers were LuAnn Salisbury, first game, 5 and Judy Brown, second game, 4. The Short Stacks downed the Hot Shots, and the Hot Shots thumped The Team. The Hot Shots downed the Short Stacks in other A League games. High scorers for the Short Stacks were Margie Merrell, first game, 6 and Darian Abegglen, second game 5. Mary Caldwell was the top scorer for the Hot Shots in the first game at 3 points and Cheryl Phillips was the high point gainer in the second game with 5 points. Mary Caldwell was the top scorer for the Hot Shots at 7 points in the first game, and Sandra Horrocks was the number one scorer in the second game at 5 points. The Team's top scorers were Judy Roberts, first game, 2 and Jacque Searle, second game, 2. The Team placed third. Western Living placed fourth. The top scorers for the Hot Shots were Gerrie Buckalew, first game, 5 and Eileen Howells, second game, 5. Betty Merrell and Lonnie Hadlock were the top scorers for the Short Stacks with 3 points each. The awards banquet will be held in the Vernal Junior High cafeteria, February 25 at 6:30 p.m. |
