Show BY GEORGE! CHERRY LOGS! It's always fun to celebrate a birthday so this year, why not honor George Washington's big day by serving these delightful "Cherry Logs." And there's no need to chop down a cherry tree to make them! The rich and creamy mixture is simply a combination of unflavored gelatine, milk, eggs, whipped cream and maraschino cherries conveniently molded in empty juice cans. Once unmolded, the "logs" arc rolled in grated chocol.ite and garnished with cherries for an honest dessert George would have loved. After tasting this delight, you too will say, "I cannot tell a lie. . . it was delicious!" BY GEORGE! CHERRY LOGS! 1 envelope KnojUnflavored Gelatine 6 tablespoons sugar 2 eggs, separated 1 cup milk 12 cup maraschino cherry juice 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup (12 pt. ) whipping or heavy cream, wh'pped 12 cup chopped maraschino cherries Grated sweet cooking chocolate In medium saucepan, mix unflavored gelatine with 2 tablespoons sugar; blend in egg yolkg beaten with milk and juice. Let stand 1 minute. Stir over low heat until gelatine is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes; stir in vanilla. Pour into large bowl and chill, stirring occasionally, occa-sionally, until mixture mounds slightly when dropped from spoon. In medium bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form; gradually add remaining sugar and beat until stiff. Fold egg whites, then whipped cream and cherries into gelatine mixture. Turn into 8 (0 07..) juice cans and chill until firm. I In mold by dipping In warm water and loosening sides with sharp knife. Itoll In chocolate; garnish, if desired, with additional cherries.
