Show yflrcadia By Mrs. Merle Ross Aaronic Youth Are Entertained The best party of the year (so the boys say) was held at the chapel Wednesday, when the members mem-bers of the Aaronic priesthood and the bishopric gathered for a night of fun and feasting. Barbecued Bar-becued hamburgers was the main attraction, but there was food galore of other types, too.. It was an evening that will long be remembered by all present. They are looking forward to it happening happen-ing again Soon. Mr. and Mrs. Hale Holgate accompanied ac-companied County Agent Robert Murdock to Salt Lake' City Wed-ue'sday. Wed-ue'sday. Mrs. Holgate remained' in Salt Lake and visited with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sharon Holgate, and Mr. Mudock and Mr. Holgate went on to Logan to attend a weed convention. con-vention. They returned home Friday Fri-day evening. Charlie Jensen came in from American Fork and was a guest at the Bill Tanner home. He was accompanied by Jay Olsen, who will be employed by Mr. Tanner for the winter. Dinner guests' at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gilbert Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Chad' Evans and family. Mr. and Mrs. Orseri Allen of Duchesne, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanl'ey Ross, Sunday Sun-day afternoon. ' TWINS COME HOME The Max Ross home was teeming teem-ing with excitement Tuesday when Mrs. Ross arrived home from the Roosevelt Hospital bringing the new twins. Even though they are tiny, they seem to be doing real, good. Mrs. John Capson was called to Salt Lake Wednesday due to the serious illness of her mother, Mrs. Eleanor Walters, who is in the LDS Hospital. She returned home Saturday with her husband and son, LaMar. We were glad to hear her mother is improving. Donna Ross spent the' weekend in Salt Lake City visiting her sister sis-ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Gwen Bodily. Mr. and Mrs1. Milton Poulson of Duchesne spent Saturday afternoon after-noon at the Milt Larsen home. THIRD BIRTHDAY Mrs. Lois TeTpening entertained at a party for her daughter, Susan's Su-san's third birthday. Present were Rosalee, Elaine and Geraldt Gilbert, Gil-bert, Randall and Margaret Lusty and Barbara BelL Mrs. Garn Gilbert was a guest at the Variety Club in Altamont Saturday. She gave a demontsra-tion demontsra-tion on making pictures, using sequins. j Mr, and Mrs. Porter L. Merrell I and daughter, Cheryl of Duchesne called at the Jack Gilbert home Saturday to help Wendy celebrate her seventh birthday. Lynn Ross was an overnight guest of Gale Larsen Wednesday night. Attending Primary convention in Duchesne Sunday were: Gladys Capson, Vera Larsen, Barbara Gilbert, Gil-bert, Ora Holgate, Geneva Gilbert, Bessie Lusty, Nancy Tanner, Mar-va Mar-va Mae' Horrocks, Marsha Lusty and Eleanor Capson. LEG INJURED Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Shields received word' their son, Wanless, of Bridgeland, suffered a severe injury to his leg when a horse slipped and fell' on him. HAS BIRTHDAY PARTY Mrs. John Gilbert entertained Saturday afternoon at a birthday party for her ten-year-old daughter, daugh-ter, Jean. Mary Ellen Evans, Lucy Lusty, Colleen Bell, Rosalee Gilbert, Gil-bert, Mamgie Ross, Tenna Gilbert and Wendy Gilbert from Arcadia, Julian Cook of Roosevelt, Sandra Merrell of Duchesne were guests , for the happy occasion. The little Miss received many nice gifts Games and refreshments' were en-yed en-yed by the ' 8rouP- Wendy Gilbert Gil-bert really joined in the celebration celebra-tion too, as it happened to be her birthday, too. , CLASS IN HOME .Mrs. May Shields was honored by having the Larks in the Primary Pri-mary come and give their lesson at her place. The girls were accompanied accom-panied by their teacher, Mrs Geneva Gilbert. After the lesson, refreshments were served to the honored guest and the following girls: Jeanie and Tenna Gilbert, Colleen Bell, Lucy Lusty, Rosalie Gilbert and Mary Ellen Evans. Dr. and Mrs. Dan Dennis of Roosevelt were speakers at Sacrament Sacra-ment meeting Sunday night. Mrs Arvin Bellon and daughters, daugh-ters, Becky and Jan of Roosevelt, visited her parents, Mr, and Mrs. John Gilbert and family Saturday. Max Ross spent the weekend at home getting better acquainted with the twins. He returned to his work in Rangely, Colo, with Lavon Horrocks, who also had been visiting vis-iting friends and relatives. Max Gardner' of Salt Lake was a visitor at the Marvin Shields' home Sunday afternoon. TEAM DOES WELL ' Rulon Gilbert has surely been doing a good work with the Explorers Ex-plorers in their basketball. The boys are really going all-out this year, even though it takes every eligible boy to make the team. Just how they are doing will be given more in detail next week. Rulon Gilbert has been ill, but is reported' better at this writing. Ora Holgate visited Trilba Gill while she was in Salt Lake. She reported Trilba recovering from her second serious operation she had undergone recently. A good crowd' turned out for the Polio program given at the chapel Friday night. Beverly OLsen and Shirley Marti have given a lot of time to make this drive' a success. Films were shown and refreshments refresh-ments served . the group attending. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Johnson went to Vernal Monday night. Their daughter, Mrs. Gail Eldredge, came home with them and visited until Tuesday. When she returned to Vernal she was accompanied by her sister, Beverly Olsen, who visited until Friday. DUP MEETS FRIDAY The next meeting of the DUP will be held at the' home of Vera Larsen, Feb. 9. All members are urged to be present. Ida Unca Sam, who has been confined to the Roosevelt Hospital Hospit-al for observation, has been transferred trans-ferred to a Salt .Lake hospital for further observation. Ida lost her eye sight some years ago, and the' doctors are still trying to determine de-termine the cause. She has taken her affliction in a most remarkable remark-able way. Everyone hopes the seat of her trouble can be' located'. Wednesday and Thursday re minded us it is still January the snow did come and did circulate. cir-culate. The drifts' indicate that the road crews are still busy elsewhere, else-where, or have forgotten that we appreciate their service. |
