Show School Problem Aired At C. C. Tuesday fleeting Directors and members of 'the local Chamber of Commerce Tuesday Tues-day heard a discussion led by Supt. Rowan C. Stutz, of Duchesne County School District on the building projects planned' for Roosevelt's junior high and elementary ele-mentary schools. Mr. Stutz reminded the grpup that the constantly rising prices of building materials' had delayed letting bids on the two schools', by forcing the architects to redraw re-draw plans to conform with the amount of state allotted money for the buildings. He informed the group the board had to decide whether to re-adMtertise and let bids on the buildings on the less elaborate plans, or wait to see if a special session of the legislature legisla-ture were called and additional (Continued on Classified Page) CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. . . (Continued from Page 1) money appropriated to the emergency emer-gency Utah School Building fund. Considerable discussion followed follow-ed Mr. Stutz's presentation of the problem, but no action was taken by the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Stutz advised that the board would meet with state officials today in Salt Lake to discuss the future of the emergency building program. His purpose in discussing the problem with the Chamber was to help the board decide whether to begin the building projects immediately, or to play a long shot, and hope the legislature legisla-ture would meet, and if they did, appropriate more funds so the originally or-iginally planned buildings could be completed. Report On Federal Building Floyd Labrum, chairman of the Chamber's Federal building committee, com-mittee, read a letter from our representatives in congress, which indicated a thorough study would be made to the proper sources.' Another proposed project Uniform Uni-form Landscaping of Roosevelt, was discussed after' a letter had been read by Pres. W. S. Murdock from the Extension Department, USAC at Logan, stating the college col-lege would' be glad to cooperate in making a Survey and recommend recom-mend trees that would thrive in this climate and s6iL The project will be pushed by the Chamber and city officials. |
