Show Union Travels To Vernal In Big Game Of The Week Duchesne Meets " Tabby In. Cellar Contest The big show on the basketball front this week in the Uintah Basin will begin at Vernal Friday night at about 6:45. That's the time the Cougars from Union will meet the league-leading and high-scoring high-scoring Utes in the first of two annual contests that have more color and more thrills than the' Rose Bowl football classic on New Year's day. Early in the season the Utes were picked to win their second straight championship in the Uintah Uin-tah region, and with Union losing to Altamont two weeks ago, it looks like the prediction might hold up. . With Valoy Eaton back in the Ute lineup, after a brief illness, Uintah has one of the top high school scoring teams and last week rated second in the class "B" poll. Two weeks in a row Eaton led all scorers in the state. He has a 28.5 point average for three league game (Continued on Classified Page) " Standing of Teams Uintah 3 0 . 1.000 Altamont 3 1 .750 Union 2 1 .667 TabiSna 0 3 .000 Duchesne 0 3 .000 Results Last Week Altamont 60 - Tabiona 28 Uintah 78 - Duchesne 26 This Week's Schedule Union at Uintah 6:45 p.m. Duchesne at Tabiona 6:45 p.m. Altamont Bye BASIN BASKETBALL . . . (Continued from Page 1) Don't Undersell Union Even though the odds favor the Utes and Eaton,' a bit of good, sound advice is: "Don't undersell those' Cougars from Union." When they meet Uintah fans have always al-ways gotten their money's worth once more we'll predict a real battle, and if the Cougars play the type of ball they are capable of, an upset could easily develop. The final meeting of Uintah and Union will, also be one of the last games of the season and will be at Union March 3. In the other contest this week, the Eagles of Duchesne will travel to Tabiona, where the cellar spot will be decided. The Eagles and Tigers have' each lost their first three starts, and Friday's contest should be a hum-dinger with two fine teams having a well-balanced starting five, and being short on reserve power. Last Friday the' Utes trounced the Eagles 78-26 at Duchesne while Altamont was handing Tabiona a 60-28 loss at Tabby. Eaton split the strings'for 34 points to take individual honors' for the week. Union was idle.
