Games will be played tonight and the finals fin-als are set for Saturday evening at 7:30 and 9 o'clock. Wednesday games included participating par-ticipating between the eight junior jun-ior teams, with four teams being eliminated. Thursday the remaining remain-ing four junior squads and the four senior teams take the floor in the second round of the tournament. tour-nament. Finals On Saturday Assurance was received Monday by George Hacking, director of Sub-Division "C," that the two champions on Saturday night would enter the All-Church tournaments tourna-ments in Logan and Provo. Mr. Hacking also announced that Dick North, Division 14 director, and a member of the All-Church basketball bas-ketball committee, and three other officials would represent the giant M Men program at the finals on Saturday night. Teams which entered the tournament tourna-ment in the junior division were from Lapoint and Maeser First, Uintah stake; Talmage and Bon-eta-Mt Emmons, Moon Lake stake; Arcadia, Duchesne stake; and Roosevelt 4th, Neola and Montwel, Mont-wel, Roosevelt stake. The second team from Duchesne was found (Continued on Back Page) Tilontwel Wins In 3rd Overtime Over Roosevelt 4th Four Junior M Men teams advanced ad-vanced last night to the semifinals semi-finals in the Region 14, Sub-Division "C" tournament after winning win-ning some close games from four other fine teams. The' final game was one of those' thriller-dillers that v sends fans home talking to themselves, and makes heroes out of players. .. Ronald Brown, substitute member mem-ber of the Montwel ward Junior team, was the hero of the hour as he fired a shot from outside to send his1 team into the semi-finals in a tripple overtime' contest. Montwel's win was a case of a third place team beating the champs of the Roosevelt stake, Roosevelt Fourth, in a game that ended in a 22-22 tie, to go into an overtime period. The end of the first overtime found the score knotted at 24-all; the second 3 minutes ended 28-28 to send the contest into a third period. A New Champ Is Sure With Uintah stake not in the senior tournament, it is certain a new entry will represent this division di-vision in the All-Church classic. Vernal Third won the title the past two years, and Altamont represented the area in 1953. A souvenir program has been sponsored by Roosevelt merchants and will be distributed free at the door each night. It contains names of players, tournament history, and space to keep score of games as they progress. |
