Show Brave Talk By JEANNINE BENNETT The past week at Bountiful High has really been a challenge chal-lenge between the grades. At lunch every day contests were held and points awarded to each class. In the final assembly assem-bly Friday the points were very close and as the assembly ended the points were still very close with the seniors winning, sophomores second and the juniors third. IN THE last of the three tournaments for the region forensics crown, BHS pulled even farther ahead and won Region for the 17th consecutive consecu-tive year. Qualifying for state in Lincoln Douglas Debate are Stuart Eyring, Bob Cornell and Mike Bettilyon. Qualifying Qual-ifying for state in legislative forum are Doug Tangren, James Lasalle and Dave Fow-ers. Fow-ers. Good luck at state this week. T act WHnPS(t?' pvpnino at the tournament of champions, in Provo, Bountiful students won major honors. Chris Austin Au-stin won first in dramatic reading, read-ing, Kimberly Wilcox won first in oratory and Stuart Eyring won first in boys extemp. Several Sev-eral others placed high in the tournament but were not awarded trophies. These students stu-dents represented our school very well. ALSO LAST Wednesday the region choral solo and ensemble en-semble was held at East High. Bountiful received 17 superior ratings. Congratulations choir. The boys tennis team is warming up for spring. The hopefuls for this year are Stuart Eyring, Kirk Simmans, Jeff Olsen, Todd Burgon, Ryan Bailey, Mike Milne and Ned Worthington. Their first match is Thursday against Woods Cross at Bountiful at 3 p.m. THF. GYMNASTICS team has been doing very well this year as a whole. Some outstanding out-standing competitors are Jill' Palmer, Kim Peterson, Syd-: ney Little and Liz Grindstaff.: Their meets are held on Thursdays Thurs-days from now through April.: Two students "Building-Brave-reports" are: Robin: Murray and Shauna Hadley.: Robin, a junior, was named fourth runner-up in the Miss: Drill Team competition held in: California. Robin will be going, to Japan in June for the international inter-national competition. Shauna, another junior, won a trip to. Switzerland for 12 days during' April. This competition was between newspaper carriers.; She was noted for her leadership, leader-ship, service and speaking ability. DRILL team try-outs are coming up on April 7th along with cheerleader tryouts, stu-dentbody stu-dentbody elections and class, elections the following two |
