Show Talces Exception To Mayor 1 read a report of the mayor of t'enterville to the citizens about what a great job he did lor the city last year. I certainly certain-ly hope the people and taxpayers tax-payers ol'C'enterville take note of a few exceptions he failed to mention. FIRST, Centerville's streets are in at least 150 percent poorer poor-er condition than they were one year ago. This is, lor every hole in the roads a year ago there are now two and one hall". Second, the water department depart-ment allowed some contaminates contamin-ates to get into the culinary water wa-ter system causing a large por-r tion of the population to become be-come very ill. The mayor blamed it on a well that has been producing clean, pure water and is still producing pure water. THIRD, the mayor has switched his neighbor pile junk, used materials and used equipment on his home site thus allowing him to create a public nuisance on a residential residen-tial site. The mayor has not had the courage his position should demand to have this corrected. There is also an illegal sign that should be taken care of in order for his neighbor to comply comp-ly with city ordinances. Fourth, the mayor hired another neighbor as City Public Pub-lic Works Director who had little lit-tle or no public works experience experi-ence or management education. educa-tion. He was hired at a time when the mayor could have hired any one of at least 50 qualified men or women at the same money. This is my opinion opin-ion as a licensed professional engineer (no. 1506) and as a person who has successfully repaired, remodeled and built millions of dollars of public works throughout the western states over thirty years. THE MAYOR must have found his public works direc- i tor somewhat lacking, as he promptly hired a Mr. Carlson as a waterworks consultant, another neighbor, to fill the lack of his new Public Works Director. Time will not permit comment com-ment on the folly of the previous pre-vious city administrator or the building inspector, however, I must mention that I volunteered volun-teered to work for the city for nothing when the mayor was publically bemoaning that the previous city council had wasted a lot of funds and he did not have enough to pay all the bills, but instead the mayor hired four men to do what I could have done for nothing (this offer was made to Dennis Lifferth, a councilman). THIS IS how I see it from 1407 W. Parrish Lane, Ccnter-ville, Ccnter-ville, Utah. E. Arthur Higgins, Citizen and Taxpayer |
