Show f Rex Imj Humbard I JSt Don't fear the future By REX HUMBARD Copley News Service Q. I have started reading Revelation and it just overwhelms me. Why should I feel so anxious when I am reading this? FX, Pittsburgh, Pa. A. "What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" -Matthew 24:3. Chapter 24 in the Book of Matthew talks about the signs of the end times. Three specific indicators that are mentioned are "wars and rumors of wars," "famines" and "earthquakes." An article in U.S. News & World Report graphically graphical-ly pointed out the signs: "In the simmering wars all over the globe, fighting is going on ... places like the border areas of South Africa, Angola, Israel, Lebanon, Leb-anon, in Afghanistan and the western Sahara. Strife flares in El Salvador and Northern Ireland and the Philippines." Famine, too, has become an increasingly severe problem. In parts of India, thousands exist on a diet of roots and tea made from the leaves of trees. An estimated esti-mated 60 million people face extended hunger in East Africa. In fact, a U.S. presidential commission warned that the famine would create major threats to global peace before the year 2000. A problem that will be even more urgent is that of the energy short-age. short-age. Killer earthquakes rumble rum-ble around the world with increasing frequency and intensity. Thousands have been killed. U.S. govern-ment govern-ment geologists have gone on record saying that California Cali-fornia will very likely ex-perience ex-perience a devastating earthquake in the near fu. ture. Some look at these situations situa-tions and say that Christians Chris-tians should retreat, buy farmland and store food for the coming crisis. This no doubt causes you to wonder at the advantages of planning for a bleak fu-ture. fu-ture. However, if your plans are based on the rock, Jesus Christ, then the rains may come, the floods may roll and the winds may blow but you will stand firm on the eternal rock. What is to be your response re-sponse to such impending tragedy? The answer is in Matthew 24:6. "See that ye are not troubled." Continue to make your plans based on a future held firmly in the hands of the eternal king, Jesus Christ. Do not fear what the future may hold. You know who holds the future!
