Miss Utah, Laura Lewis, performed the crowning ceremony. Over 300 twirlers and over 500 spectators crowded into the Orem Recreation Center to attend the statewide Utah Baton Competition. THE MISS Utah Twirl Pageant got underway at 2 p.m. Top NBTA judges from Philadelphia divided the girls into four age groups and selected one winner from each category. Five-year-old Jodi Webb competed in the 0-6 age division divi-sion along with 26 other contestants con-testants her age. The girls modeled a party dress, gave a speech and were interviewed. Then the girls changed into their costumes and performed a twirling solo (continuous twirling without breaks for 1 min. 30 sec.) Jodi was so excited ex-cited to hear her name announced as Miss Utah Twirl. Miss Utah placed her tiarra, pinned on her banner and presented her with her trophy. JODI WENT on to compete in the open individual competition competi-tion and received two more first place trophies (best appearing and poses) and one medal (basic strut). Most of her age divisions had 30-40 entrants en-trants per event. She is a student stu-dent of Julie Webb's Rhythm Company. Jodi is a daughter of Allen and Julie Webb and granddaughter grand-daughter of Al and Dotty Johansen and Dail and Harriet Webb of Bountiful. |
