"t -r ' ' 1 f 1 I klf I 4v-, I; - I ' I "f V I v I ' ; ' J. ; Tim Brayton, Ogden, and a former Cedar City resident, teamed up with Dave Buffington of Cedar City to capture the Two-Man Best-Ball tournament staged at the Painted Hills Golf Course Saturday and Sunday. Sun-day. The pair shot a 70 for the first round of play Saturday and were trailing the team of Kevin Averett and Rett Long by five strokes going into Sunday's action. Brayton and Buffington shot a 67 Sunday for a final total of 137 while Averett and Long, both of Cedar City, shot a 73 and dropped into a tie for second place honors with Fred Wright, Jr. and i Mitch Oakden, also of Cedr City. The Wright and Oakden Oak-den team had a 67 Saturday and a 71 Sunday for a 138 effort. Entries in the tournament were from Las Vegas on the south to Ogden on the North. Brayton, the entry from Ogden, traveled via bus to and from the tournament. Capturing net honors in the tournament were the teams of Larry LaFrenz and Art Pryor and Jon Garrett and David Wright. They had identical scores of 122. In second place in net competition were Val Peterson and Gary Tom with a 124 and fourth place honors went to Jim Edwards and Jay Commander at 125. All are from Cedar City. Other winners in the gross competition were Mark Hyland and Jefi Neeley of Salt Lake City with a 141 followed by Dave Boorman and Steve Thomas, Provo at 144 and Rex Miller and Kent Reardon of Las Vegas had a 145. They fired a 137 over the two-day, 36-hole event. Finishing in fifth place in the net division were Lenny Olafson of Cedar City and Neil Jenkins of Bountiful with a 127. They were followed by Mac Ray Jensen and Lynn Parsons, Beaver Club managers with a 128 and Garth Bohn and Mike Lee a 131. |
