Show Taxpayers Union favors Hatch The National Taxpayers Union, an organzation numbering some 60,000 across the country, has rated Utah's U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch among the top seven most frugal Senators in Washington. In reaching their conclusion con-clusion the Taxpayers Union reviewed more than 100 authorization and appropriation ap-propriation votes and other spending measures from the 1977 session of the 95th Congress. The ratings were established by computer. Senator Hatch said he was pleased with the rating but not surprised. "It really is no accident to be rated low in spending. It takes a great deal of planning plan-ning and restraint to control your voting record with regard to expenditures. There are literally hundreds of measures that spend tax dollars in one way or an-toher. an-toher. In order to protect Utah taxpayers, and others, cost is something I take into account with every vote I cast." |
