Show Bond Election to take over the city garbage utility. The council again reviewd the contract and took the matter under consideration. A letter from the Bank of Iron County exercising its option to renew the lease agreement with the City on the bank building was presented. The renewal of the lease was approved unanimously. Camden Sheffner, of the Satellite Cable TV Company, was in attendnace. The Council tabled any decision on a proposed franchise agreement until the City Power Board makes a recommendation regarding use of the city power poles for the TV cable. Chief of Police Joe Haslem was present. He proposed that Deputy Joe Mickelson be advanced in rank and given a $50 per month raise in salary. Also discussed was a proposal to have Deputy Michelson work one extra hour per shift as an animal control officer exclusively ex-clusively for the added salary. PAROWAN - The proposed bond election for improvements im-provements to the Parowan City Water system was reviewed Wed. by the council. Mayor Robinson presented the resolution calling for the bond election to be held May 23, 1978, for the issuance of $250.00,000 in Water Revenue Bonds and $200,000 in General ,. Obligation Bonds. . Mayor Robinson reported that a letter had been written to the Utah Department of Transportation Tran-sportation making application ap-plication for Safer-Off-System (SOS) highway funds in the amount of $4,372.43, s for proposed upgrading of street signs in Parowan. Local matching funds will be used in labor to install the signs. Wilmer Hillis, manager of the Hungry Horse Saloon, was present to request a Class C. Beer License and a Set-Up License. The motion to approve was made and passed. The proposed sidewalk project on West 2nd South Street was reviewed. The council discussed the possibility of exempting the block from Main Street to first. West because of the grade of the highway in that area. Councilman Benson was authorized to contact the engineers to begin surbeying the project as soon as possible. The council reviewed a proposal of Sherman Dalton The Council agreed that the items could be budgeted in next year's budget. Sewer line extensions were discussed. Councilman Benson indicated that the Sewer Committee had made no decision concerning the sewer line recently installed in-stalled by Adams-Lamoreaux Adams-Lamoreaux and Johnson subdivisions on East 5th North Street. He further stated that until an agreement between the parties is reached, that a $1,000 connection lee charged in addition to the normal hookup fee of $175. Councilman Adams announced an-nounced that some of the Council medmbers had met with Greg Simpler of the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation today concerning con-cerning the proposed improvements im-provements at the swimming swim-ming pool. He reported that due to the time schedule for construction, the swimming pool will probably open for paret of the season thsi year. The Council authorized Councilman Adams to contact an engineer regarding construction of the facility additions, i Iron County has requested financial assistance in repairs to the old jail facility and cementing of an irrigation ditch immediately east of the structure. Councilman Wood motioned to offer for sale the city's 2-5ths 2-5ths interest in the building to the county., The motion passed unanimously. |
