Show Local Students BYU Graduates Students from the Cedar City area were among the 2,422 graduates who received diplomas at the 103rd Commencement exercises April 21, 1978, at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Commencement services were held in the 23,000 seat Marriott Center, the largest assembly building on a university campus in the United States. With more than 25,000 students, BYU is the largest church-related university in the nation. The. graduates represent 45 states and 33 foreign countries. Of the total graduating, 59 percent are men and 41 percent women; 47 percent of the graduates are married. The April class included: Peter John Bennee (BAC), Lynette Cowley (BAC). Dennis Jones (MAS), Elizabeth Jones (AC), Irene R. Begaye Jones (MAS), Eric E. Marchant (DR), all of Cedar City; Kenneth Jay Gardner (BAC) of New Castle |
