He will now begin schooling in Fort Eustis, Va. for the Transportation Tran-sportation Corps. Later he will be assigned to Fort Rucker, Ala. to begin Helicopter Flight Training. Lt. Petty graduated from Cedar High School in 1973. At that time he received an Army ROTC Scholarship to BYU. He served in the France Paris Mission of the LDS Church from April 1974 to April 1976. While at BYU he was active in the Army ROTC Cadet Battalion where he served as Lt. Colonel. He was also made a member of Phi Kappa Phi, a Scholastic Honor Society.
